PITTSBURGH, Pa. – UPMC has been recognized by the National Business Group on Health for providing one of the best workforce health and employee well-being programs in the nation.
UPMC is among 17 U.S. employers to receive the [bestemp.businessgrouphealth.org/bestemployers/]2018 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award at the Platinum Level, the highest level, reserved for organizations who have implemented a strategy with demonstrated results across the dimensions of well-being, and a demonstrated connection between workforce well-being and key business outcomes. UPMC has been recognized in each of the last 10 years for its efforts around wellness and well-being.
The mission of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award program is to honor the best workforce well-being programs in the U.S., particularly those with a holistic approach to well-being, encompassing financial, emotional, social and community well-being.
UPMC was recognized for its support of additional contributors to holistic well-being, such as social connectedness, job satisfaction and financial security. MyHealth provides programs and services to all UPMC employees and non-employee members. MyHealth is designed to maintain and advance the health, productivity and quality of life of employees and their insured spouses/domestic partners and dependent children, while reducing their incidence of health risks. UPMC Health Plan also offers the MyHealth program to its commercial employer groups, through UPMC Work Partners.
Ninety percent of UPMC’s eligible employees participate in MyHealth programming annually.
“This award reflects the many ways that UPMC supports employee well-being both within traditional MyHealth programming as well as opportunities outside of MyHealth. These includes community involvement, employee engagement measurement and intervention, the integration of financial health and behavioral health/work-life through our Employee Assistance Program services, and more,” said David Weir, president, UPMC WorkPartners.
“It is critical for us to support our employees with their overall well-being, so that they know they are supported both at work and at home,” said John Galley, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, UPMC. “Through MyHealth and other programs, we are helping our associates and their families lead healthier lives, which makes UPMC a great place to work, while also benefitting our patients and the communities we serve.”
